Hegias, a start-up company based in Lugano and Zurich, has developed a platform through which it is possible to visualise, explore and modify homes using virtual reality right from the initial design phase. This innovative software allows users to immerse in a virtual reality reproduction of scenarios and 3D models. In this context, the classification of 3D objects plays a vital role. For this reason, Hegias asked Noli Manzoni, Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence at USI, to improve the system and reduce human intervention to a minimum to speed up the process and cut costs.

The 2nd Speakers' Corner project was held in 2021 at LAC Lugano during the Swiss Digital Days. In this series of short videos, students talk about the projects they developed for the event. Speakers' Corner is a project promoted by the City of Lugano and the urban laboratory Lugano Living Lab. USI took part in the event, together with other universities in Southern Switzerland. The initiative stems from the desire to promote concrete projects to raise awareness of digital issues by enhancing the skills in the region.
