Toward Decentralized Process Execution
A cross-organizational collaboration involves multiple parties working together to provide high-quality products and services. However, the lack of trust among participants acts as barrier to achieve a successful collaboration. The given business scenario implies certain requirements on which technology must be used as a suitable infrastructure for an effective collaboration. Blockchain technology serves as a tamper-proof and decentralized mediator in which participants can have the trust to enforce business rules according to predefined policies. In this talk, we will discuss the possibility of integrating a collaborative business process of a decentralized nature with a blockchain platform.
Hassan Atwi is a Ph.D. student in the DESIGN research group at the Software Institute. His research interests revolve around the intersection of business process management and blockchain technology. Prior to starting his Ph.D., he earned a master’s degree in Software and Data Engineering from USI - Università della Svizzera Italiana.

In February 2019, the Software Institute started its SI Seminar Series. Every Thursday afternoon, a researcher of the Institute will publicly give a short talk on a software engineering argument of their choice. Examples include, but are not limited to novel interesting papers, seminal papers, personal research overview, discussion of preliminary research ideas, tutorials, and small experiments.
