In Other Eyes

Tuesday, November 29, 2022, 6.30 pm

Palazzo Turconi, T0.03

Denise Scott Brown is one of contemporary architecture’s most significant personalities and an inspiration in the struggle against sexism in the field. The anthology Denise Scott Brown In Other Eyes: Portraits of an Architect – marking the 50th anniversary of the seminal treatise Learning from Las Vegas – features new scholarship on her contribution to architectural and urban discourse. It includes twenty-five newly written contributions by architectural historians and practitioners, such as Mary McLeod, Joan Ockman, Sylvia Lavin, Stanislaus von Moos, Jacques Herzog and many others.

A combined ISA lecture and book presentation will celebrate the release of this publication. The editor Frida Grahn will present its concept and two of the authors, Inès Lamunière and Denise Costanzo, will give summaries of their chapters in person. An open conversation between the guests, the representatives of VOLTA, and the audience will follow, in which Scott Brown will participate on video.

A limited number of copies will be available for purchase, beginning at 6:15 pm.
