The second lecture of the course Culture and Health - Healing Words will be held on Monday, 30 October 2023, at 6 pm at the East Campus multipurpose room. Perri Klass will discuss how literacy promotion in paediatric primary care supports parents in improving exposure to language, encouraging positive interactions through books and reading aloud. The 'Reach out and Read' model, popular worldwide and in Switzerland under the name 'Born to Read', is associated with improvements in the home environment and more positive attitudes.

Oskar Jenni, as discussant, will present some results of the Zurich Longitudinal Studies (ZLS), which followed individuals from birth to old age and help to better understand which factors in childhood lead to a healthy and long life.

Speaker:
Perri Klass, professor of Journalism and Paediatrics at New York University; National Health Director of Reach Out and Read

Discussion with:
Oskar Jenni
, director of the Child Development Centre and professor of Developmental Paediatrics at the University of Zurich
