Zonta Club Lugano Foundation - Awarding of six scholarships for the academic year 2023-2024

The Zonta Club Lugano Foundation, as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, awarded six scholarships, each worth 4,000 francs, to seven university students on Saturday, 9 March 2024. One of them was Chiara Galderisi, a third-year student of the Bachelor's degree in Economics at USI.

The ceremony took place on Saturday, 9 March, at Villa Sassa in the presence of various personalities from the cultural and social world, academic and political authorities, including the President of the Council of State, Raffaele De Rosa, the Mayor of Lugano, Michele Foletti, USI Council President Monica Duca Widmer, USI Rector Luisa Lambertini, and SUPSI Director Franco Gervasoni.

The following students received a scholarship for the current academic year (2023-2024):

 

  • Thomas Casartelli from Lugano (mechanical engineering student at ETHZ) 
  • Julian Cummaudo from Vacallo (computer engineering student at SUPSI)
  • Chiara Galderisi from Caslano (student at USI, Economics)
  • Juliana Guerreiro Santos from Arbedo Castione (nursing student at SUPSI)
  • Federica Müller from Caslano (student in earth sciences at ETHZ) 
  • Mara Wenger from Lugano (student at SUPSI, Conservatory, bassoon)

The Zonta Club Lugano is a service club and member of Zonta International. One of its main objectives is to promote the education and role of women at the local, national, and international level.

Since 2001, Zonta Club Lugano has supported 133 students through its foundation, donating a total of CHF 532,000.
