The Institute of Urban and Landscape Studies and the Accademia di architettura are pleased to announce the organisation, together with Stiftung Baukultur and I2a, of a conference on the theme ‘Back to the future’. How will we live together in the future? Is utopia still possible? Imagination has been exhausted by successive crises, constant innovation and immediate returns on investment. Today it comes up against a closed horizon. Yet it has always been architecture's very own task to deal with the future: We still see buildings that were erected decades or even centuries ago. Where have we lost our way?
This event will be an appeal to our imagination. A call to re-appropriate the future and to jointly design alternatives to the slow pace of the present. The speakers, experts from various fields, will express their views in various discussion formats such as lectures, panel discussions and public talks.
