Date: 21 February 2025 / 20:30 - 22:00

Auditorium USI Campus Ovest

Taghi Ramani, Iranian journalist and activist, will be a guest at USI on Friday, 21 February 21, 2025, to present the Italian translation of the book White Torture: Interviews with Iranian Women Prisoners by Narges Mohammadi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2023.

Narges Mohammadi – engineer, journalist, and activist – has been sentenced multiple times and has spent most of the past ten years in Iranian prisons, often in solitary confinement. The author has given voice to fourteen Iranian women, including herself, to recount the ongoing human rights violations in her country and to denounce the brutal prison methods, particularly "white torture," designed to deprive detainees of all sensory stimuli. The presentation offers an opportunity to learn about Narges Mohammadi's tireless fight for human rights and her resistance efforts, but also to restore a voice to those who have been silenced so that stories of resilience and courage do not go unheard.
