The day of the Sustainability Week dedicated to the environment will be structured into three key moments.
Conscious Consumerism or Happy Degrowth for a Sustainable Future?
12:30-13:30

Screening of the documentary "Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy", directed by Nic Stacey, which explores consumerism, the strategies behind it, and its true costs. Based on the documentary, we will try to understand whether the future means "I can’t buy anything anymore" or "I need to start buying consciously".

Swap Party

Bring clothes you no longer like (or don’t bring any – up to you!) and take something new to give it a second life. The swap party has just one rule: breathe new life into something someone else no longer needs.
Upcycling: Creative Sewing!

"I don’t like how this sweatshirt fits my waist, but I love its hood… let’s make it a crop top!"
Two creative sewing workshops to revamp an item of clothing that doesn’t quite convince you, but that you don’t want to part with. Cut, sew, and voilà!
With Lorena from Upcycling Itinerante.
- First session: 16:00 - 17:30 (max 10 participants)
- Second session: 17:45 - 19:15 (max 10 participants)
Participants are invited to bring t-shirts, sweaters, or other clothing items to learn upcycling techniques and personalize their garments.

- AIESEC's Special Stand showcasing its Global Volunteering project
- The Swiss Red Cross Special Stand featuring its Re-Fashion project
- The Energy Game, proposed by Alessandra Motz (Institute for Economic Research, USI) and Miriam Allisiardi (USI Quality and Sustainability Service)
Sustainability Week
Organized by the SEEDS student association, under the guidance of the national association Sustainability Week Switzerland, Sustainability Week is an annual initiative aimed at raising awareness and engaging the university and local community on sustainable development topics. The event is being promoted in collaboration with Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).
