31 March 2025
USI Transfer continues the series of strategic encounters "Innovation Roundtable", creating opportunities for collaboration and innovation for academic and business professionals, on this occasion, from the Pharma sector.
USI Transfer, the technology transfer service of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), plays a fundamental role as a catalyst in economic and social development, encouraging innovation and promoting collaboration between the academic world and industry. In line with its mission, on 24 March, USI Transfer hosted the "Innovation Roundtable on Pharma", part of a consolidated series of encounters structured to stimulate dialogue and discussion between business professionals and USI on emerging technologies, research opportunities, latest market trends and the challenges of the sector. The main objective of these encounters is to identify potential synergies between universities and companies that can lead to collaborative and innovative projects.
Among the protagonists of this roundtable are some professors and group leaders from the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, the affiliated institutes IRB and IOR and EOC (Prof. Francesco Bertoni, Dr Andrea Cavalli, Prof. Vittorio Limongelli and Prof. Dr. Med. Anastasios Stathis) together with professionals from renowned local and national pharmaceutical companies (Andrea Maria Giori - Director of Research and Development, IBSA; Michael Hennig – CEO, leadXpro; Piero Poli – President, Rivopharm; Kamil Tamiola – CEO, Peptone).
Michael Hennig, CEO of leadXpro, shared his perspective, "The innovation Roundtable was a great opportunity to combine academic and industry experts for the sharing of science and business information. This format is a complete success." Kamil Tamiola, CEO of Peptone, added, "The roundtable was insightful. I particularly enjoyed the discussion on 'the culture' and the other participants' suggestions to create a series of informal, intimate meetings among key stakeholders in the Ticino ecosystem."
