Towards UniVerso - Let's cut together
Institutional Communication Service
16 April 2025
On 10 May 2025, during UniVerso - an event organised by USI Università della Svizzera italiana for the community - artist Yuri Catania will unveil a large participatory artwork dedicated to USI.
The artwork will be created using the paste-up technique. It will feature a stunning composition of black-and-white faces representing the members of the USI community—students, lecturers, academic staff, and employees. These faces will be intertwined with colourful flowers, symbolising the different faculties of the University.
A powerful visual mosaic that will tell the identity and energy of the USI community.
The creation of the work will begin in mid-April under the Cube on the West Campus and will culminate on 10 May 2025 with its inauguration.
To make this work possible, we need everyone's contribution!
Anyone interested is invited to participate in the cutting activities and assist the artist with pasting photographs and flowers to create the artwork. It is a unique opportunity to engage with Yuri Catania's creative process and leave a tangible mark on the city.
No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a desire to get involved.
It is an invitation to share an experience and collaboratively create a work that tells the story of our University.
