"Yuri in Wonderland": an exhibition at BiblioAgorà
Institutional Communication Service
12 May 2025
From now until 16 May, BiblioAgorà on the USI-SUPSI East Campus is hosting an art project that explores the deep connections between humans, nature, and technology—key themes in the work of artist Yuri Catania. Admission is free during BiblioAgorà's regular opening hours.
In this series, the visual artist and photographer explores the fragile balance between human essence and the digital age, using an expressive language that merges from painting, photography, collage and advanced technologies such as augmented reality and artificial intelligence. The absolute stars of the Astro Exhibition are female astronauts, powerful symbols of beauty, strength and elegance. This deliberate choice highlights the importance of female empowerment in scientific, artistic, and symbolic domains. The exhibition presents iconic and visionary images celebrating women's determination and sensitivity.
Among the artwork is "Astro Credy", an imposing figure floating amidst a constellation of peonies, camellias, and dahlias. Her journey to the moon serves as a metaphor for the daily challenges we encounter. It highlights technology as a tool for evolution while reminding us not to lose sight of our roots in nature, which is essential and vital. The artwork "Astro Credy" is on loan for the exhibition at USI, thanks to its owner, Credinvest Bank. The pieces in this collection invite multiple interpretations: through augmented reality, they come alive with sounds and digital images that can be activated using a smartphone. Some details can only be seen with UV torches, making the observation an intimate and surprising experience.
"Yuri in Wonderland" invites us to explore, dream, and immerse ourselves in both cosmic and inner spaces. This collection awakens our sense of wonder, celebrates our natural curiosity, and encourages us to reflect on our place in the world.
