Luca Trissino, PhD student at the Institute of Italian Studies of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), has been awarded the "Opera Critica" prize, conferred by Fondazione Sigismondo Malatesta and now in its seventh edition.

The award was presented at the prize-giving ceremony on 31 May 2025 in Rocca Malatestiana (Santarcangelo di Romagna).

Luca Trissino's work, chosen as the winner among three finalist projects, is titled "Trame del visibile parlare: La Commedia Egerton 943 fra parola e immagine" (The Comedy Egerton 943 between Word and Image). It analyses the iconographic elements of the first known attempt to illustrate Dante's text comprehensively, focusing on the relationship between the miniatures and the text, the dynamics of their combination, and the materiality of the support.

The jury consisted of Paolo Amalfitano (President of the Foundation), Silvia Carandini (President of the Jury), Marco Caratozzolo, Elena Dagrada, Francesco de Cristofaro, Luca Pietromarchi and Luca Zoppelli.

The "Opera Critica" prize aims to promote and valorise research carried out by young scholars in the field of Comparative Literature, Theatre and Performing Arts.
