Summer School 2025 on Motherhood and the Medical Humanities

From 20 to 22 August 2025, the second edition of the Summer School "Maternity and the Medical Humanities", promoted by Fondazione Sasso Corbaro with the patronage of USI, will be held in Bellinzona. The educational opportunity is open to students, health professionals, researchers, caregivers, parents and people interested in the themes of motherhood, (non)-parenthood and contemporary bioethical challenges.
The event proposes an interdisciplinary approach interweaving science, medicine, literature and narrative, addressing often neglected topics such as therapeutic abortion, medically assisted procreation, breastfeeding taboos and perinatal psychopathologies. Experts in the field, along with women writers, will engage in a format that promotes discussion and collective reflection. The final day will be dedicated to presentations by doctoral students showcasing their research.
The Summer School, organized by Dr Laura Lazzari Vosti, a researcher at the Foundation and a lecturer at Georgetown University, issues a certificate of participation. There is a registration fee (CHF 350 in presence, CHF 200 online - excluding meetings with writers), and the deadline for registration is 13 July 2025.
