NextGen Open Call: "Imagining Planetary Diplomacy"

Are you under 30 and passionate about innovation, science, art or technology? Swissnex - the global network of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) - has launched the NextGen Open Call: Imagining Planetary Diplomacy. The initiative invites young visionaries to envision a future where diplomacy encompasses not only nations but also the planet and its inhabitants—ranging from rivers and forests to microbial networks and large ecosystems.
Who can participate?
- Young people up to the age of 30
- Students, PhD students, researchers, artists, programmers, innovators or anyone wishing to propose creative and interdisciplinary ideas;
What can be submitted?
- Text proposals (max 1000 words), video/audio (max 5 minutes), artwork, narrations, rituals or other creative formats;
- Originality is essential and the use of AI tools must be declared;
What does the programme offer?
- Selected applications will be presented during the Swissnex Planetary Summit, a global event in Brazil, the USA, China, India and Japan between late 2025 and early 2026;
- The series will begin with a speech at COP 30 in Belém (Amazon), November 2025;
- Selected entries from Switzerland will be offered a sponsored trip to Boston to attend the North American Swissnex events;
