New additions to the USI community - 2025/26

Institutional Communication Service

Over the past academic year, the USI community has expanded and thrived, not only through the arrival of new members but also through internal promotions and mobility, which have seen staff and lecturers take on new roles and responsibilities.

This overview lists the names of the new members, divided by area and function:

Internal promotions and mobility

Libraries, Archives and Society

  • Martina Pestoni took on the role of Open Access/E-Resources Specialist at the University Library of Lugano on 1 September 2024, after working in the Research Service from 2014.

Finance and Controlling Area

  • Nikola Angelov, after an internship in 2024, joined the Finance and Controlling Service team on 1 March 2025.
  • Almira Zekan took on the role of sole Head for the Finance and Controlling Service and Area on 1 December 2024.

Information Technology and Digitalisation

  • Ivano Di Remigio took on the role of Coordinator of the new area of the IT Service - IT Management and Procurement - on 1 January 2025, following his experience in the IT Service as User Support Team Coordinator.
  • Daniele Fenaroli has been promoted to the role of Coordinator of the User Informatics Area of the IT Service. He took on the role on 1 January 2025.

Education, Student Life and Internationalisation

  • Alissa Castelli, after working in the Career and Alumni Service, took on the role of Administrative Assistant at the Laboratory of Modern Languages on 1 September 2024.
  • Solange Cingari has been promoted to the role of Student Administration Coordinator for the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, effective 1 January 2025.
  • Nadia Ruggiero has been promoted to the role of Student Administration Coordinator for the Faculty of Informatics, effective 1 January 2025.
  • Irene Menghini has been promoted to the role of Student Administration Coordinator for the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, effective 1 January 2025.

Research, Transfer and Ecosystem Development

  • Bianca Maria Cattaneo joins the Transfer Service on 1 December 2024 as a legal assistant, following her experience in the Legal and Compliance Service.
  • Anna Lazzarinetti has been promoted to Head of the Research Service effective 1 August 2024, after serving as Co-head of the Research Service and Senior Grant Officer.

Campus Services

  • Alessio Manfrè has been promoted to Coordinator and Sports Instructor of the Sport Service effective 1 January 2025.

Operational and administrative services

  • Anna Giovanetti assumes the role of Faculty Manager of the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society on 17 March 2025, following significant experience within the University, initially in the Career Service and subsequently as Marketing Manager in the Study Advisory and Promotion Service
  • Omar Visentin assumes the role of Head of Lifelong Learning Service as of 1 May 2025, after collaborating with the Human Resources Services on a project related to the CCL.
