The CoPeC questionnaire dedicated to family caregivers of people with dementia is now online: a key step in building care pathways for people with dementia in Canton Ticino and the Moesano region through a participatory approach.
As part of the CoPeC project (Building Care Pathways for Dementia: An Integrated and Participatory Approach to Preserving Autonomy), a questionnaire has been launched for family caregivers of people with dementia living in Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. The study, coordinated by the Institute of Public Health in collaboration with members of the CoPeC consortium, aims to gather valuable information on the experiences of caregivers throughout the care journey.
The contribution of family caregivers is a fundamental element for CoPeC, which is based on a participatory and integrated approach. The project values multiple perspectives: the direct experience of family caregivers, the expertise of health and social care professionals, the knowledge of sector experts, and the analysis of institutional and scientific sources. This comprehensive view enables the development of care pathways grounded in lived experiences, established collaborations, and consolidated resources developed in recent years within the framework of the cantonal dementia strategy.
The questionnaire, available online since July 8, was developed based on insights from the Alzheimer Forum 2025 workshops, which involved 120 professionals from the health and social care sector. The goal is to highlight strengths, challenges, and needs related to care pathways, to improve the understanding of the current system and support targeted, personalized interventions that truly meet the needs of the territory.
The data collected through the questionnaire will help strengthen critical areas and enhance good practices, with the ultimate goal of fostering greater autonomy, clarity, support, and continuity in the care of people with dementia—ultimately improving the quality of life for all those involved.
