Positive Impact Research Market (PIRM) is USI's new initiative aimed at facilitating collaboration between professionals working in the field of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and USI students and researchers.

The project is supported by CAMPUS and co-funded by swissuniversities, and will be operational from November 2025.

In concrete terms, PIRM acts as a platform that:

  • Provides students with applied research opportunities that contribute concretely to sustainable development, allowing them to work on bachelor's or doctoral theses that respond to real challenges posed by external professional realities.
  • Enables partner organisations (companies, start-ups, NGOs, institutions) to benefit from the work of students who, drawing on their academic experience, apply the methods and knowledge they have learned in practice to respond to the research proposals of organisations with competence, impartiality and responsibility.

How does PIRM work?

The partner company or institution can enter research proposals into the CareerGate online platform based on its own needs. Students, guided by a supervisor, choose the research proposal that interests them and develop it in their Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral thesis.

The end result for the partner is an academically validated research thesis, accompanied by a concise, professionally oriented project report.
