USI meets Flavio Del Ponte - War surgeon, man of peace

Università della Svizzera italiana is pleased to invite you to the third event in the "USI incontra" series, featuring Flavio Del Ponte: a war surgeon, and advocate for peace. Originally from Valmaggia, he has worked in conflict zones in Somalia, Rwanda, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Later, he was appointed by the FDFA as a medical advisor to the UN Secretariat in the peacekeeping departments in New York.

In conversation with Giovanni Pedrazzini, Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Flavio Del Ponte will look back on his career in medicine, diplomacy and humanitarian intervention, providing the audience with insights into current issues. At the end of the event, you will have the opportunity to purchase his book, Dissonanze – Storie di un chirurgo di guerra (Dissonances – Stories of a War Surgeon).
