120 IBSA Foundation scholarships awarded to students of the Master of Medicine

The award ceremony for the IBSA Foundation for scientific research scholarships for students of the Master of Medicine of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of Università della Svizzera italiana was held on 20 October.

For the 2025 edition, all 120 scholarships available were awarded, covering all or part of the tuition fees for the spring semester of 2026. In particular, the IBSA Foundation for scientific research funded all 59 applications from first-year students and all 61 applications submitted by second-year students.

The welcome address to the young audience of students was given by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Giovanni Pedrazzini, who outlined the criteria for the allocation of the scholarships and explained in detail the procedures for their disbursement. The Professor also reminded attendees that the scholarships offered by the Foundation represent not only valuable financial support for students, but also a strategic tool to attract young talents from different countries, encouraging them to pursue their medical studies in Canton Ticino.

Following his remarks, Arturo Licenziati, President and CEO of the IBSA Group, reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the future professionals of medicine. Also present at the ceremony was Silvia Misiti, Director of the IBSA Foundation for scientific research.

After the traditional group photo, the students received their scholarship certificates and spent some time talking to President Licenziati to express their gratitude.

At the end of the ceremony, the evening continued with a lecture dedicated to the theme of "Physical activity as complementary therapy", part of the Culture and Health 2025 – Doctors and Social Prescription programme.
