On 21 October, the Academy of Architecture hosted "USI Meets Industry," an event promoted by USI Transfer. This gathering brought together representatives from academia and local businesses, providing an opportunity for dialogue on architecture and innovation topics.
The answer to the question "Why engage in dialogue with industry?" is straightforward: innovation occurs when academia and industry collaborate. This partnership opens up opportunities for cooperation, encourages the exchange of ideas across disciplines, and fosters the creation of shared value. "USI Meets Industry," organised by USI Transfer, provides a platform for universities to connect with local businesses. It offers a chance to discuss ideas, establish new connections, and promote collaborative projects.
Prof. Luca Maria Gambardella, Pro-Rector for Innovation and Corporate Relations, and Prof. Riccardo Blumer, Director of the USI Academy of Architecture, opened the event with the Mayor of Mendrisio, Samuele Cavadini, who, with his message, helped to reinforce the value of the University's proximity to businesses, for the benefit of the local area and society.
For the companies and researchers who attended, it was also an opportunity to discover research defining the sector through the contributions of Prof. Ena Lloret Fritschi and lecturer and researcher Carlo Dusi, both members of the Academy of Architecture's recently established Institute of Sustainable Architecture and Technology (IAST).
