The international workshop "The Role of Firms in the Swiss Labour Market" will be held on 19 and 20 March 2026 at Università della Svizzera italiana. The encounter, organised by Prof. Fabrizio Colella, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics, will bring together academics, researchers and scientific associates to discuss empirical and theoretical research focusing on labour and employment dynamics in Switzerland.
The workshop will be held at Università della Svizzera italiana, in the Red Room at West Campus Lugano, and will be attended by around 30 academic scholars. Sessions will commence on Thursday, 19 March 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm, and will continue on Friday, 20 March, with the final sessions concluding at 5:00 pm.
The scientific organisation of the workshop is entrusted to Fabrizio Colella, Assistant Professor of Economics at USI, assisted by Josef Zweimüller (University of Zurich) and Rafael Lalive (University of Lausanne). The initiative is part of a research project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Over the two days, research contributions on the role of firms in labour markets will be presented and discussed, with a particular focus on corporate behaviour, employment policies, and their implications for workers and institutions. The workshop will thus provide an expert forum for discussion, promoting the exchange of ideas and dialogue across different research perspectives in the field of labour economics.
