3 March 2026

As of January 2026, all Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) publications - journals, conference proceedings and magazines - will be published Open Access (OA).

Publications will be free to access and share. As stated by ACM in their announcement, “this change reflects the long-standing and growing call across the global computing community for research to be more accessible.

USI welcomes this transition for an increasing openness and for a more accessible research environment. In its commitment towards OA publishing, USI is happy to confirm that the institutional read and publish agreement with ACM has been renewed for the period 2026-2028.

Thanks to this agreement, USI members can publish free of charge (with the exception of some conference proceedings co-published with IEEE or Sage, listed here).

To benefit from this agreement, you must:

  • be the corresponding author of the publication and be affiliated with USI;
  • submit with your USI affiliation, using your institutional email address (@usi) to facilitate the matching process;
  • if possible, submit your article from within the USI network (matching process through the IP address).

For any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Library Open Access support service ([email protected]).
