Recently the Faculty of Informatics of USI celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with an informal gathering that brought together the Faculty's female students, researchers, professors, and staff. The relaxed atmosphere was designed to foster dialogue, sharing, and new connections.
The initiative proved to be an important community-building occasion, offering participants a space for discussion and forging new acquaintances outside of their everyday academic and professional settings. Throughout the event, participants exchanged experiences, reflections, and personal journeys, fostering an atmosphere of mutual support and understanding.
The women and girls in attendance shared highly positive feedback about the experience, highlighting the value of coming together in an open and inclusive environment that encourages spontaneous conversations and authentic relationships.
Beyond the social aspect, the event helped strengthen mentoring networks and collaboration across generations and career paths, fostering new alliances, friendships, and opportunities for collective support. The experience was defined by a shared sense of belonging particularly to the Faculty of Informatics, but also to the university and scientific community in general.
This initiative is part of USI's ongoing commitment to promoting an inclusive academic environment that values women in science, research, and education.
