The re-framing of the Faculty of Communication Sciences took over six months and involved an important number of faculty and USI community members. The outcome of the reframe suggests a new combination of the various components of the Faculty that shall address three challenges:

  • global interconnection (of communication networks and the changes they entail);
  • diversity (linguistic, cultural, ideological, philosophical and religious – which the current demographic, migratory and geopolitical changes demand from public, corporate, international and intercultural communication);
  • the advancement of culture (of a memory for the future, in an era defined by technological and cultural change, which define the first two challenges)

The re-frame of the Faculty shall enable to confirm its central role within USI. Among other options, a change of name of the Faculty has been taken into consideration between the Faculty and the University Council, to emphasize the wider range of study topics envisioned: the suggested name is “Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society”.
