A new continuing education program for attorneys has been launched by the Institute of Law at Università della Svizzera italiana (IDUSI) in partnership with the Lucerne University Faculty of Law.

The programme consists of a series of eleven seminars that will be given throughout the year, starting at the end of January 2017, and is addressed to attorneys and, in general, all legal counselors, offering them regular updates on new legislation and case law in the various legal segments. With this programme, USI brings to its Lugano campus the “Express-Fortbildung” educational model introduced at University of Lucerne per lawyers in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. The initiative is coordinated in Lugano by IDUSI, with the support of the Bar Association of the Canton Ticino (OATI), Cornèr Bank Lugano, and the Department of Institutions of the Canton Ticino. Participants will engage in thematic seminars presenting recent developments in, for instance, procedural law, banking law, corporate law, family law and public procurement legislation. The seminars and related course material will be either in Italian or in German, supported by an online portal with all updated documentation.

According to atty. Renato Cabrini, President of OATI, “We have strongly encouraged this project in response to the need for lawyers in Ticino to benefit of a structured program of high-level scientific continuing education. OATI is pleased to have found leading experts in these two institutions, one of which in Ticino, and as President of the Bar I am proud to support this initiative and I am certain that the ‘Continuing education and refresher course for attorneys’ will be a success.”
