At the end of his state visit in Switzerland, President Napolitano wished to make a stop at USI, were he attended a lecture of about an hour entitled The Value of the Cultural Weave between Italy and Switzerland, held in tandem by Architect Mario Botta (founder of USI's Academy of Architecture) and Professor Carlo Ossola (director of USI's Institute of Italian Studies). Giorgio Napolitano and Didier Burkhalter have been welcomed on Lugano Campus by Ticino's State Councillor Manuele Bertoli and by USI's President Prof. Piero Martinoli.
