The 350th anniversary of the birth of Giambattista Vico, one of the most widely translated and studied Italian philosophers, falls this year. To celebrate this occurrence, the Laboratory of Civil Studies (USI Faculty of Communication Sciences) has organized the conference “Vico e l’Autobiografia” on May 25 and 26, at the Lugano campus Auditorium.

Guest speakers from Switzerland, Italy and Russia will explore the concepts of the Neapolitan philosopher in relation to the subjects of language and communication, with perspectives ranging from literature, history, philosophy and philology.

The conference will also be attended by students who won the Vico Prize 2018, which initiated in Naples with the opening conference "Dalla nuova scienza alla Scienza nuova. Per l’autobiografia filosofica nel 350° anniversario della nascita di Vico” (From new science to The First New Science. A philosophical autobiography for the 350th anniversary of Vico's birth.)
