Deconstructing AI biases: a framework for a critical analysis

On August 2024, ChatGPT reached 200 million weekly users and today OpenAI doubled this number. In general, AI is a multifaceted tool, that nowadays is frequently used in many fields and by almost everyone in the Western World. However, as scholars argued, this tool implies some critical points. Among them, this module is conceived to deal with biases that LLM acquire from the data on which are trained. By actively discussing with participants, the module aims to provide a framework of the main problematic points on AI biases and address some solutions to them. The course will be taught in English.

When I was studying Philosophy in my Bachelor’s degree, I was fascinated by how professors were able to explain complex concepts in a logical, comprehensible and accessible way. This is the most significant lesson they gave to me and I am applying it in many fields of my everyday life. Moreover, I’ve always been passionate about digital communication processes, and in Master’s studies I am looking at them from a more practical point of view. With this module, I would like to transmit my passion and, at the same time, provide some lenses through which participants could observe the world.
