Responsible internationalisation
Università della Svizzera italiana is a university with a deeply international vocation, welcoming an academic community of people from over 100 countries. The exchange of ideas, international relations and dialogue between different cultures and perspectives are essential elements of university life, contributing to a learning, research and innovation environment that is open to the world.
Internationalisation, however, goes beyond study abroad or the ability to attract talent from around the globe. It also represents an institutional commitment to academic freedom, equitable access to higher education and the recognition of the potential of people coming from particularly vulnerable contexts, such as people with an asylum background and scholars at risk.
In line with its internationalisation strategy, the principles of university social responsibility and USI's Charta and Third Mandate, the International Relations and Study Abroad Service coordinates a range of initiatives aimed at translating these principles into concrete action, contributing to the development of a sustainable and cooperative academic space capable of addressing the global challenges of our time with critical thinking and solidarity.
