On December 12, the USI Lugano campus welcomed - for the first time - the Cantonal licence awarding ceremony for the new young lawyers admitted to the bar of the Canton Ticino. The event is the result of a well-established collaboration between the cantonal institutions and the Institute of Law of USI (IDUSI, Faculty of Economics) which, among other things, together with the University of Lucerne (Faculty of Law) and with the support of the Division of Justice of the Canton of Ticino, the Bar Association of the Canton of Ticino (OATI) and BancaStato, since 2017 has been offering a series of continuing education and for attorneys and legal counselors (www.usi.ch/en/feeds/5291). The fourth series of the training programme will begin on January 28, with 11 sessions covering specific subjects and providing information and updates on new legislation and case law in each legal area dealt with.
"We are pleased to have been able to host such an important moment in the professional life of young lawyers who, after a long and demanding period of training and practice, have now obtained the cantonal licence and are admitted to the bar," explains Prof. Federica De Rossa, director of IDUSI. "This constructive collaboration with the cantonal institutions is undoubtedly part of USI's mandate (*). However, the training of a lawyer or legal counselor does not end here: the quality of their work, in the interests of the proper administration of justice and in an increasingly complex regulatory environment, is also ensured by quality continuing education and by the possibility offered to professionals to remain constantly updated. It is in this context that the USI Institute of Law has been working for years, collaborating sucessfully with the other actors present on the region and building bridges with the Faculties of law in Switzerland so that the distances with Ticino can be shortened".
The continuing education program for attorneys is intended to provide practical guidance in the relevant field of competence and to explain the development of case law. For details: www.unilu.ch/weiterbildung/rf/weiterbildung-recht/formazione-continua-e-aggiornamento-per-giuristi/
