Rector Boas Erez makes a further plea to individual responsibility: all members of the academic community shall respect the social distance of 1.5 meters on campus, or USI will have to review the protection provisions introducing more restrictions. Below, the full text of the call.

Dear Members of the University community,

The choices regarding the Protection Provisions that we have made so far at USI are based on two fundamental premises. The first is that learning in presence is valuable. Therefore, despite the great logistical and organisational challenges, we are committed to preserving it with all the means that are available to us. The second premise is that we must be able to count on your active participation in creating a safe learning and working environment. Instead of opting for general obligations, we have decided to leverage your sense of responsibility by merely setting out clear rules, which unfortunately are not always respected. That is why I am forced to make a further appeal: a social distance of 1.5 metres must be kept, and a mask must be worn when such distance cannot be respected. This flexible approach has so far allowed us to avoid implementing provisions that demand to wear face masks on campus premises at all times. The situation is under control for now, but if we are not all collectively more disciplined, we may soon be forced to introduce further restrictions.

I take this opportunity to remind you that the protection provisions have also been summarised in a short video.

I am counting on you!

Regards,

Boas EREZ
Rector
