"LACritica: ritorno al tragico" (back to tragedy) is a laboratory of critical vision and journalistic writing for students and university students, organised by the student association Il Letterificio and the theatre magazine "Stratagemmi" in collaboration with LAC - Lugano Arte e Cultura and USI Institute of Italian Studies. The Initiative is supported by the Students' Corporation and revolves around three performances: Una vera tragedia (12-13 October), Fedra (28-29 November), Terzo Reich (5-6 December). Participation in the workshop is free and includes reduced tickets for the shows at LAC. Places are limited: applications by 30 September at [email protected].

Together with the team of experts of Stratagemmi - Prospettive teatrali, participants will discuss the shows, interview artists and produce original works. The latter will form a magazine that will be promoted through the LAC channels, focused on the central theme of the selected shows: tragedy and our relationship with it. What invisible thread still ties us to the ancient tradition? Does tragedy still make sense today?

The workshop will allow participants to develop their own critical look at the world of theatre, dance and performance, and at the same time to know the tools necessary to write reviews, interviews and other editorial content (e.g. related to communication on social networks). It is aimed at a maximum of 10 university students who want to test themselves with writing for the stage, refine their critical and storytelling skills, devise and discover new strategies to convey cultural content.

To apply, please send a short presentation by 30 September 2020 to [email protected], specifying for example whether you have already gained experience in journalism or theatre and your motivations for participating in LACritica. For more information always write to [email protected].
