Walter Angonese appointed Director of the Academy of Architecture

The Council of Professors of the USI Academy of Architecture has appointed Prof. Walter Angonese as the Director of the Academy for the two-year term 2021-2023. Prof. Angonese will take office on September 1, 2021, succeeding Prof. Riccardo Blumer, to whom USI expresses its gratitude for the great work done during the past four years. A press conference has been organised, on September 17, at 11AM in the Director's meeting room, to present a few of the activities of the upcoming academic year 2021-22.

Walter Angonese (1961) is, since 2011, Full professor at the USI Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio. Graduated from IUAV in Venice he lives in Caldaro, Sudtirolo. He has taught at the University of Innsbruck, and was Visiting professor at Wien, Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Munich, Zurich, Milan, Porto, Viseu, and Berlin. His works have received numerous prizes and awards.

At the Academy of Architecture, the Dean is called Director of the Academy. The Dean's office is made up of the Director Walter Angonese, two Vice Directors (currently Daniela Mondini and Marc Collomb), the Dean's Office Coordinator Marco Della Torre, the General Manager Antoine Turner and the former Director Riccardo Blumer. They manage and administer the Faculty, implementing the decisions made by the Faculty Council, the Council of Professors and the Rectorate (see USI Organisational Structure).
