The metaverse, dream or nightmare?

"Metaverse" is a word that has now become part of our universe. It originated in a science fiction novel and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg brought it to the world's attention by renaming his company "Meta". But what exactly does this term stand for? What opportunities does it evoke and what risks does it conceal?
In the column dedicated to technology in collaboration with La Regione, this month we welcomed Eleonora Benecchi, lecturer and researcher at USI Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society who offered us a critical look at the future predicted by Mark and friends.
