The USI Libraries joined the world's leading academic libraries to make research results available to everyone in real-time and in various digital formats. As many as 255 libraries are currently members of Open Book Publishers.

The libraries of Università della Svizzera italiana (BiUSI) are now members of Open Book Publishers (OBP). OBP is an independent academic publishing house that publishes monographs, textbooks, and critical translations in Open Access (OA). Their publications are available in electronic formats, including PDF, HTML, XML, and print editions.

OBP is committed to making high-quality research accessible and does not require any financial participation from the authors. Authors retain the rights to their texts, which are available to all without restriction. OBP's Library Membership Programme proves how libraries can commonly promote sustainable open-access publishing.

BiUSI have joined OBP's programme, and their registered users can download OBP's full range of digital editions, including pdf, epub, mobi/azw3 and XML formats. USI students, faculty and staff can download and store any digital edition of any title from the OBP website. In addition, they can receive a 15% discount on purchases of print editions on the OBP website. To take advantage of these opportunities, connect to the OBP website from a device connected to USI's LAN or Wi-Fi network.

By joining OBP, USI Libraries will contribute to the publication of at least 40 new high-quality OA monographs each year, as well as support the development of open-source software that may enable other publishers to publish OA books.

The USI Libraries join OBP by promoting the fairer, faster and more sustainable publication of academic books.
