Prestigious appointment for Silke Gillessen

Prof. Silke Gillessen Sommer, director of IOSI, has been appointed ad personam to the Senate of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS), a prestigious appointment in the medical field.
The Senate is the supreme body of the SAMS and consists of ordinary elected members as well as delegates and guests, a total of about 280 persons.
The prestigious appointment was conferred on Prof. Silke Gillessen Sommer in November 2023 in appreciation of her outstanding academic achievements in medicine and her extraordinary commitment to academic causes outside their areas of specialisation.
Delegate members include, among others, representatives of the Faculties of Medicine, members of the medical and nursing profession, representatives of the Swiss Society of Dentists, the Swiss Society of Pharmacists and the Society of Swiss Veterinarians.
