A Pro-rectorate for Sustainable Transformation and Equal Opportunities

As part of a number of organisational updates, Università della Svizzera italiana is pleased to announce that, as of 1 April 2024, the Pro-rectorate headed by Professor Sonja Hildebrand will take on the new name of Pro-rectorate for Sustainable Transformation and Equal Opportunities. Additionally, reflecting the growing importance of research, the USI Libraries area (BiUSI) will be managed by the Pro-rectorate for Research, led by Professor Patrick Gagliardini, starting on the same date.
USI is committed to taking a leading and responsible position regarding environmental, social, and economic sustainability. To better organise its efforts, a Pro-rectorate for Sustainable Transformation and Equal Opportunities has been established. This entity is responsible for coordinating and promoting all research, teaching, and third mandate initiatives and activities related to sustainability.
The reallocation of the USI Libraries under the management of the Pro-rectorate for Research is designed to improve synergies between library resources and research activities, ensuring even more effective support for the university's academic endeavours.
These initiatives reflect USI's ambition to be at the forefront of higher education and reaffirm its commitment to environmental sustainability, equity, and research excellence.
