Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) continues to stand out for its commitment to including refugee students through the InclUSIon project and other initiatives. Over the past four years, 10 students from Ukraine, Turkey, Iran, and Syria have had the opportunity to attend academic courses as auditors and participate in language courses alongside their peers. During the academic year 2023/24, 35 refugee students started a regular university education.

Maurizia Ruinelli, who is leading the project and is a staff member of the International Relations and Mobility Service, stresses the significance of providing guidance and support to these students, particularly when it comes to enrollment procedures and language barriers. Following the funding received in May, USI will enhance these initiatives until 2026, with the goal of formalising and integrating them into current processes.

For more details on these initiatives and the students' testimonials, visit the link to the piece in the newspaper La Regione (Italian only).
