Innosuisse - Call for projects Flagship Initiative

Research Service

Submission deadline: 12 November 2024

Deadline pre-proposal: 12 November, 2024
The Flagship Initiative aims to foster systemic innovation that helps to overcome major challenges for the economy and society.
Eligibility

  • Consortium Composition:

    • The consortium must consist of at least three research partners. However, in justified exceptional cases, two research partners may also be acceptable.
    • The consortium should include at least one university of applied sciences.
    • There must be at least two implementation partners. These partners must significantly contribute to the implementation of the flagship.
  • Types of Partners:

    • Research Partners: Defined according to Art. 7 of the Innosuisse funding ordinance, these include universities, research institutions, and other entities eligible under Innosuisse's criteria.
    • Implementation Partners: These can be private or public institutions or companies responsible for ensuring the implementation of the project outcomes. They must contribute substantially to the flagship’s success.
  • Host Institution:

    • One Higher Education Institution (HEI) or a non-commercial research institution outside the university sector must act as the host institution. This institution is responsible for representing the project partners in dealings with Innosuisse and must designate a representative who will be the primary contact person

Funding and duration
Innosuisse covers a certain amount of the direct costs of a flagship. The legal basis allows an Innosuisse contribution of 40 to 60%. The implementation partners contribute to the total costs of the flagship with own work and services, which must at least correspond to 40 to 60% of the overall project cost, as well as a financial contribution to the research partner. The financial (cash) contribution is at least 5% of the overall project costs according to the Innosuisse funding ordinance.
There are no conditions regarding the length of a flagship. However, we assume that a flagship will be longer compared to an average Innosuisse innovation project due to the systemic approach and transdisciplinarity.
