SNSF - New UK-Swiss bilateral funding for clinical trials to open in 2025

A new bilateral funding opportunity will be available starting April 2025 for joint clinical trials between Swiss and UK researchers, supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the UK National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). With a total budget of CHF 8.8 million, the initiative will fund up to three high-quality clinical trials focusing on unmet medical needs, testing the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of diagnostic, preventive, or therapeutic interventions.
The trials must demonstrate prior evidence of feasibility and involve expertise and participant recruitment across both countries. Proposals must also include plans for developing early- and mid-career researchers.
To assist researchers, the SNSF offers funding for cross-border research visits and workshops, while the NIHR provides free advice and support through its Research Support Service (RSS). Researchers are encouraged to start forming multidisciplinary teams and preparing proposals.
