The General Culture Pass (AG cultura) arrives in Ticino and is becoming available for the first time south of the Alps. Thanks to this initiative, individuals up to age 26 can enjoy free access to over 10,000 events, including concerts, shows, films, festivals and exhibitions, in over 300 cultural institutions. Ticino thus joins the cantons of Bern, Fribourg, Jura, Neuchâtel and Valais, giving the project a trilingual dimension and strengthening the cultural ties between the different regions of Switzerland.
Ag cultura costs 100 francs annually, is valid for 365 days, and the holder can choose the activation date freely. This initiative aims to make culture more accessible to younger generations by removing economic barriers and promoting inclusion.
Marina Carobbio Guscetti, State Councillor of the Canton of Ticino and Director of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport (DECS), emphasises the importance of this opportunity: "The introduction of the AG cultura in Ticino broadens the vision of the entire project, which is now trilingual, enabling us to connect different parts of Switzerland and enriching all of us. By reducing costs, we aim to make culture more accessible and appealing to younger generations while investing in our canton and language."
Ticino's participation in AG cultura will enable young people to discover and attend numerous cultural events and venues in the region. The participating partners include museums such as the MUSEC – Museo delle Culture in Lugano, the Monte San Giorgio Fossil Museum, the Hermann Hesse Museum in Montagnola, the Giovanni Züst Cantonal Art Gallery in Rancate, the Villa dei Cedri Museum in Bellinzona, the Leventina Museum, the Val Verzasca Museum, the m.a.x. museo in Chiasso and the Monte Verità museum complex. Also included are festivals and events such as the Babel Festival, the Monte Verità literary events and the Arzo international storytelling festival, as well as artistic and theatrical organisations such as Teatro Paravento in Locarno, Teatro San Materno, Spazio Officina in Chiasso and OSA! Organico Scena Artistica. The current offer is completed by the Marguerite Arp Foundation, the Baumgartner Gallery, the Leventina Cinema and the Minimusica association of Bellinzona.
The subscription is available online at agcultura.ch and can be purchased both in digital format and as a gift voucher.
