Schmidt Science Fellows 2025

Schmidt Science Fellows is an initiative that allows PhD candidates to shift their research focus and undertake a postdoctoral position in a leading research institution that fosters interdisciplinary development.

Eligibility

• PhD candidates in natural sciences (Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Sciences), Engineering, Mathematics, and Computing;
• Candidates must expect to successfully defend their PhD between 15 May, 2025 and 30 June, 2026;
• Candidates must be nominated by their PhD awarding institution to be eligible to apply to Schmidt Science Fellows.

Funding and duration
The fellowship covers personal stipend (110,000 USD per year) for up to two years of postdoctoral study in a different area from their PhD.
