CYD Doctoral Fellowships

Deadline

• Stage 1 application deadline: 20 August 2025 (17:00 CEST)

• Stage 2 full proposal submission deadline: 1 October 2025 (17:00 CEST)

The CYD Doctoral Fellowships provide four years of salary and research/conference funding (with a possible one-year extension) to enable fellows to complete a PhD thesis at the CYD Campus under the supervision of a professor at a Swiss higher education institution. The program focuses on cyber-defence, including topics such as data science, AI methods, and security technologies.

Eligibility

• Open to citizens of any nationality

• No age restrictions

• Applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral program at a Swiss institution, with the endorsement of a professor at that institution

• Applicants can apply at any stage of their PhD, but preference is given to those who have not started or are at the early stages of their PhD

Funding and Duration

• Salary contribution (incl. social security benefits) based on host institution scales

• Research costs: up to CHF 3,000 per year

• Conference costs: up to CHF 5,000 per year

• Total duration: up to four years, with a possible one-year extension

Timeline of the Call

• Stage 1 submission deadline: 20 August 2025 (17:00 CEST)

• Shortlisting and mentor interviews: September 2025

• Stage 2 submission deadline: 1 October 2025 (17:00 CEST)

• Final decision announcement: End of November 2025
