SNSF - Clean Energy Transition Partnership

The Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP), co-funded by the EU and more than 30 national funding agencies including the SNSF, supports transnational research and innovation projects that aim to drive impactful results and systemic transformation toward a clean energy transition.

Eligibility
Swiss researchers who devote at least 50% of their time to research are eligible. Applicants can join or lead a consortium composed of at least three partners from three different countries (among 23 EU and 14 non-EU nations).
SNSF will fund Swiss participation in 5 specific CETP call modules:

• Energy system flexibility

• Renewable power technology

• Heating and cooling solutions

• Integrated regional energy systems

• Integration of clean energy into the environment

Funding and duration
CETP projects may receive between EUR 500,000 and 5 million for a duration of 12 to 36 months.
For the Swiss component, SNSF offers between CHF 100,000 per project and CHF 250,000 per year per applicant.
A total of CHF 850,000 is available from SNSF to fund 2–3 projects under this call.

Timeline of the call

• Pre-proposal submission deadline: 9 October 2025

• Full proposal invitation: 12 March 2026
  (Only selected projects proceed to this phase.)

• Project start date: No later than 15 December 2026
