The Simons Institute is the world’s leading center for collaborative research in theoretical computer science and its connections to related disciplines. Its Research Fellowships support early-career scientists who wish to spend a semester at the Institute as part of one of the following two programs:
For the 2026 academic year, the Institute expects to award approximately eight fellowships per program, with one or two appointments potentially extending for the full academic year.
Salaries and benefits are competitive, and assistance with visas and housing will be provided.
Eligibility
- Researchers within at most five years of the award of their PhD at the start of academic year 2026;
- Junior faculty or postdoctoral researcher are welcome upon approval of the postdoctoral institution;
- Graduate students will be considered if the expected PhD completion date is before the start of the fellowship.
Funding and duration
Most fellowships are awarded for one semester. Salaries and benefits are competitive.
