Pivot Fellowship
The Pivot Fellowship supports established faculty researchers in transitioning into a new scientific discipline through a one-year, mentored training experience designed to foster cross-disciplinary innovation.

Deadline

• Application deadline: May 14, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. (ET)

Eligibility

• Applicants (fellows) must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree.

• Must be faculty at an academic institution or hold an equivalent position.

• The fellowship must support a transition into a new discipline distinct from the applicant’s current field.

• Fellows must receive institutional approval for a full year of leave.

• Fellows may not hold another fellowship providing salary support during the training year.

Funding and duration

Duration

• One-year fellowship (training year).

Fellow Support

• Full academic-year salary support (9- or 12-month basis).

• $10,000 research, travel, and professional development allowance.

• Mentors will receive a $50,000 research fund during the fellowship year

Fellows and mentors will each submit a unique application in SAM independently of each other.
