Date: 30 April 2026 / 12:15 - 13:30

The ERC Plus Grants: Swiss National Information Event is an online session scheduled for 30 April 2026 (12:15–13:30), aimed at introducing Swiss-based researchers to a new and highly prestigious funding instrument under Horizon Europe.

In 2026, the European Research Council (ERC) will launch the ERC Plus Grant, a novel scheme designed to support visionary, high-risk/high-reward research that extends beyond the scope of traditional ERC funding. With only around 30 projects funded annually across Europe in 2026 and 2027, the programme represents one of the most competitive opportunities for cutting-edge scientific advancement.

This national information event provides participants with a comprehensive overview of the ERC Plus scheme. It covers key aspects such as objectives, eligibility criteria, evaluation procedures, timelines, and proposal requirements. Particular emphasis is placed on the newly introduced “Statement of Vision”, a central component of the first evaluation step.

The event is targeted at a broad audience, including researchers at all career stages considering an application, current and former ERC grantees planning ambitious future projects, as well as host institutions, research support staff, and strategic research managers.

The programme includes a welcome and introduction, a detailed presentation by the Swiss ERC National Contact Point, a Q&A session, breakout discussions with individual host institutions, and a closing segment.
