The Social Research Prize ceremony will take place on Friday, 29 May, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm, in the USI West Campus Auditorium in Lugano. This award is dedicated to scientific research on sociality, inclusion, and human relations.
The prize, now in its fifth edition and promoted by Ciao Table Association in collaboration with USI and the Institute of Clinical Neurosciences of Southern Switzerland, is awarded annually to a researcher who has distinguished themselves through significant scientific contributions to the social and relational factors that foster inclusivity and wellbeing.
The fifth edition of the award will be presented to Veronica Witte, Associate Scientist at the University of Leipzig and Group Leader at the Department of Neurology of the Max Planck Institute, for her research into the effects of social relations and lifestyle on the brain and cognitive health.
The Social Research Prize is unique in highlighting not only the individual career of the award-winning researcher but also the role of the academic community in supporting innovative research and women's scientific careers. For this reason, the prize is also symbolically dedicated to the winner's home university.
The event, titled "How Social Relations Change the Brain: New Discoveries", will also provide an opportunity for public reflection on the link between neuroscience, social interaction, and mental health-topics that are currently the focus of growing scientific and social interest.
