2 May 2017

The fourth edition of “StartCup Ticino” kicked off on May 2nd, presenting a new formula for a number of selected first-round projects who will take part in the second phase of the competition. This so-called “accelerator” phase consists in a structured coaching program, to be carried out from the end of July to the end of October, for around twenty participants, five of which will reach the final phase. These finalists will win, like in the 2016 edition, cash prizes totaling 120’000 Swiss francs at the awarding event on December 6th on the USI Lugano campus. The five finalists, moreover, will be automatically admitted to the second phase of the selection for the Swiss Economic Award and to the 3rd Venture Day Ticino.

The StartCup Ticino competition is an initiative of the USI-SUPSI Start-Up Promotion Center (CP Start-Up) promoted by the Ticino Regional Innovation System (Department of Finance and Economics of the Canton Ticino, through its Economic Development Office) and supported by EFG Bank, aiming at fostering entrepreneurship in the region. The purpose of the competition is to reward the most innovative and promising business projects, conceived or realized in Ticino in recent years. Other prizes include a scholarship for the USI Executive MBA and free consulting sessions offered by Connect Switzerland, Startups.ch and yourCFO.

The deadline for entering the competition is June 25, 2016.
