Reduce/Reuse/Recycle International is an exhibition on architectonic reuse projects and transformation strategies, sharing an affirmative attitude towards the existing. Curated by Muck Petzet, Professor for Sustainable Design at the Accademy of Architecture, the show is a follow-up research and exhibition project to the German contribution to the 13th Venice Biennale in 2012.

Many are the topics that the exhibit path offers: from the identification of a value system for the management of waste in architecture, to the declination of the concepts of reduction, reuse, minimal intervention and recycling; from the question of how accumulated resources can be useful and sustainable for future generations to the idea that probably the growing engagement of architects in transformation projects will also lead to a transformation of the self-image of architects.

The exhibition presents a series of 13 works featuring large format images made specifically for the Mendrisio exhibition by photographer Erica Overmeer and a video section devoted to about 40 additional projects with materials collected and studied by students of the Accademy of Architecture.
